Chapter 5: Beware of the Notebook Vortex
We are in week 5 of our book study on Maia Heyck-Merlin’s, The Together Teacher. If you missed any of the previous chapters be sure to check them out here.
Have you been sent to a training the week before school starts? Have you loved something but not had the time to implement it or figure out what it would look like in your classroom? This is my favorite. Not.
I remember going to an awesome training for flipped classrooms. The Wednesday before school started. As awesome as it was, I was in no shape to implement these great ideas. By the time I got a handle on the year and wanted to start flipping a few lessons, I had forgotten the most important parts. It ended up being a waste.
Can you relate? Sure you can, you are a teacher.
“Most of us think and process information through writing, which is helpful in the moment. However, it is not helpful when we return to those notes six months later and find ourselves sorting through a lot of jibberish. ”
The Together Teacher has an awesome solution for both professional development notetaking and meeting notes.
This keeps everything nice and organized. Then, you can move any “do asap” items to your calendar or to-do list and file your notes away. When you go back through your notes, you will remember what you enjoyed from the training and be able to consider those “do eventually” tasks.
That is a wrap today! Quick, easy and to the point.

Happy Teaching!
